3 troops among 6 killed in clash in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD — Three troops and three terrorists were killed in a clash between security forces and the militants in Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan province on Thursday, the military said in a statement.

The incident happened in Harnai district where the troops launched an operation on receiving an intelligence tip-off regarding the presence of the terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani Army, said in the statement.

The troops effectively engaged the militant’s location and killed three terrorists, the ISPR added, saying that the slain terrorists were planning to target civilians in the province.

During the operation, an improvised explosive device exploded on the leading vehicle of security forces, killing an officer and two soldiers, the statement said.
