ABIDJAN, July 28 – Sixteen people were killed and 51 others injured in a road accident in northern Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday morning, according to the country’s transport ministry.
A public bus crashed with a crane-carrying truck on the Katiola-Niakara highway at around 0600 GMT while travelling from San Pedro, southwestern Cote d’Ivoire, to Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou, the ministry said in a statement.
“A provisional toll reports 16 fatalities and 51 injured individuals who were evacuated by emergency services to the Regional Hospital Center of Katiola, located about 398 kilometers from Abidjan,” it said.
