5 troops killed, several injured as army vehicle falls into gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir

NEW DELHI — At least five Indian troopers were killed and several others injured Tuesday evening after a vehicle carrying them skidded off the mountainous road near the Line of Control (LoC) in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said.

The accident took place in Poonch district, about 185 km southwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Following the accident, health teams were dispatched to the spot to carry out rescue efforts.
