HANOI, June 17 – Two people were killed in an explosion at a four-storey residential house in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi on Tuesday afternoon, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m. local time in the Van Phu urban area of Ha Dong district.
The explosion triggered a fire on the fourth floor, where flammable items shaped like tubes, suspected to be fireworks intended for event use, were stored.
The identities of the two deceased have not yet been confirmed.
Vietnam reported 1,508 fires and explosions in the first five months of this year, resulting in 44 deaths and 53 injuries, according to the National Statistics Office of Vietnam.
