  • 12 killed, 8 injured as Israeli jets stage airstrikes in Lebanon’s Baalbek despite ceasefire

ISTANBUL – At least 12 people were killed and eight others injured on Tuesday when Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes in Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, in the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement, local media said.

Seven Syrian nationals were among the fatalities in the strikes that targeted a camp for Syrian refugees in the Wadi Fa’ra town in Baalbek, the state news agency NNA reported.

Israeli airstrikes were also reported in the outskirts of Shmustar town and Wadi Umm Ali, but no information was yet available about injuries.

The Israeli army, for its part, claimed that the attacks targeted Hezbollah sites in the area.

There was no comment from Hezbollah on the Israeli claim.

Cross-border warfare between Israel and the Hezbollah group in Lebanon escalated into a full-scale war last September. Despite a November ceasefire, Israeli forces have carried out near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah activities.

Since then, Lebanese authorities have reported nearly 3,000 Israeli violations of the truce, including the deaths of at least 236 people and injuries to more than 540.

Under the ceasefire deal, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by Jan. 26, but the deadline was extended to Feb. 18 after Tel Aviv refused to comply.

Until now, Israel still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.

  • Gaza: Five killed, others missing as Israel continues the genocide

GAZA, July 15, 2025 – The Israeli occupation forces continued the bloody aggression on the Gaza Strip today, targeting civilian homes and areas sheltering internally displaced persons, resulting in killing some and injuring others, including children.

Palestinian Red Crescent paramedics reported that five citizens were killed, others were injured, and several others were missing under the rubble of a home belonging to the Nassar family near Martyrs’ Square in the Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, after it was targeted by Israeli aircraft. The slain and wounded people were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital, west of the city.

In another field development, Israeli warplanes bombed Al-Awda Tower (2), located near Al-Quds Hospital in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of the city, following a prior threat. This led to panic among patients, medical staff, and displaced persons in the surrounding area.

A number of citizens were also killed and others were injured, including children, in an attack targeting tents for displaced persons in the Al-Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City, where dozens of families had taken refuge to escape the ongoing airstrikes.

  • Texas flood death toll rises to 131 as new storms loom

July 14 – The official tally of storm-related deaths across Texas rose to 131 on Monday as authorities warned of yet another round of heavy rains 10 days after a Hill Country flash flood that transformed the Guadalupe River into a killer torrent.

A National Weather Service flood watch forecasting heavy downpours of up to half a foot of rain was posted until Tuesday morning for a wide swath of central Texas extending from the Rio Grande east to San Antonio and Austin.

The advisory included Kerr County and other parts of Texas Hill Country along the Guadalupe still recovering from the July 4 flood disaster, which ravaged the county seat of Kerrville and a riverside Christian summer camp for girls in the nearby town of Hunt.

Riverfront residents as well as search teams still combing the banks of the waterway were advised to seek higher ground until the latest danger had passed. The search for additional victims along the Guadalupe was likewise suspended due to flood concerns on Sunday.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday said storms had claimed at least 131 lives in Texas since July 4, the bulk of those deaths in and around Kerrville, up from 120 reported on Friday.

He said 97 people were still listed as missing in the greater Kerrville area, down from the 160-plus who authorities said were unaccounted for last week.

About a third of the Kerr County fatalities are children, most of whom perished at Camp Mystic when floodwaters raged through the girls-only summer retreat before dawn on July 4.

Authorities have not rescued anyone alive since the day of the floods, when more than a foot of rain fell in less than an hour in the heart of a region known as “flash flood alley,” sending a deadly wall of water down the Guadalupe River basin.

Abbott said state lawmakers would investigate the circumstances of the flooding, disaster preparedness and emergency response to the flooding at a special legislative session set to convene later this month.

The high casualty toll, ranking as one of the deadliest U.S. flood events in decades, has raised questions about the lack of flash-flood warning sirens in Kerr County and vacancies left at National Weather Service offices amid staffing cuts under the Trump administration.

GAZA CITY, Palestine / ISTANBUL – More than 700 Palestinians, mostly children, have been killed by Israeli army fire while collecting water since October 2023, local authorities said on Monday.

“The Israeli occupation continues to wage a systematic and deliberate war of thirst against the Palestinian people in Gaza, in a flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian conventions,” Gaza’s government media office said in a statement.

The office accused Israeli forces of using water as a weapon of war “to deprive the Palestinians of their most basic rights.”

It noted that Israeli army forces had committed 112 massacres against Gazans collecting water, killing more than 700 people, mostly children, since October 2023.

On Sunday, at least 12 people were killed, including eight children, by Israeli fire while waiting to collect water in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

The media office said that over 720 water wells were deliberately destroyed by the Israeli army in Gaza.

“Attacks on water wells have deprived more than 1.25 million Palestinians of access to clean water,” it added.

According to the statement, the Israeli army has obstructed the entry of 12 million liters of fuel monthly, the necessary amount to operate the minimum number of water wells, sewage stations, waste collection mechanisms, and other vital sectors in Gaza.

“This has caused a complete paralysis in water and sewage networks and the spread of epidemics, mainly among the children,” it added.

The media office called on the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate action to stop Israel’s systematic and deliberate use of water as a war weapon and allow the necessary amount of fuel and heavy equipment to reoperate water wells and drainage stations.

Israel has kept Gaza crossings closed to food, medical, and humanitarian aid since March 2, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis in the enclave, affecting Gaza’s 2.4 million residents. The blockade has pushed the region into famine conditions, with many reported deaths due to hunger.
