ISLAMABAD, June 29 – Seven more people have died in rain-triggered accidents across Pakistan over the past two days, raising the death toll to 45 since the onset of the monsoon season on June 26, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said Sunday.
The number of wounded rose to 68 after six more people sustained injuries in torrential rains that have lashed almost all provinces of the country, the NDMA said in a statement.
Most casualties occurred as a result of roof collapses and flash floods that swept away houses and bridges, the authority added.
The NDMA said that 89 houses have been either partially or fully destroyed, while 55 heads of livestock have also perished.
